After do a survey few weeks, I have decided to buy a new machine to simulate the routers. The existing machine I have are not powerful enough to run the simulations. So, last weekend, I went to Low Yat Plaza to create new machine. Here are the specs of new machine and the most expensive machine i have created. Total money i spent out is $$$$ plus.
Core I7 870
4 Gig RAM
ASUS Motherboard
NVIDIA PCI-E GT 240
Coolermaster Casing
20" LCD Monitor
However, there is a bad news. My old machine was heart broken aka ‘merajuk’ after few minutes she turn on and when she see there is a powerful machine and beautiful face beside her then the display was dark. After trying to boot, restart, plug then unplug the VGA port, still not working. :(
OK, back to new machine. The machine had been installed with Window 7 32-bits Ultimate but will be upgraded to Windows 7 64-bits Ultimate soon. But how good this i7 PC?
This morning, she is tested (1st test) to see how good the performance of this i7. I had simulated 8 routers as above and the CPU processing just around 10% only. The previous machine (Core 2 Duo ) when i ran these 8 routers have been reached 98% of CPU processing. Thanks to Intel i7 to handle this massive hungry CPU process.
Last, why i created this powerful box? This is related to my studies to simulate large network into a single machine.
